5 Tips to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions on Track

1. Get Real About Your Resolutions

Learn how to stay motivated and achieve your goals with these tips and tools. What’s your reason behind wanting to achieve this goal or make this change? If you’re trying to get fit, ask yourself, is it so I can fit into a bikini or become healthier so I have more energy and strength? When you have purpose beyond a number, you become more motivated to take actions that will help you achieve your goal.

2. Write It Down

Research shows journaling, even for a few minutes, about your goals and desires makes your brain more motivated too. But don’t do this by typing, actually write in a notebook with a pen or pencil. Why? Your brain processes it differently, and it stays in your mind longer.

Write down your goals and outline the small, manageable steps you’ll need to take to achieve them. If you set a big goal like learning a language or running a marathon, without a step-by-step plan, it can be overwhelming and trigger frustration or negative thoughts that get in the way of your success. But by planning and accomplishing one small thing at a time, you’ll stay on track, focused, and confident.

3. Cope Ahead for Triggers

Ask yourself what may get in the way? When you are realistic about what could pull you out of motivation station, you become more likely to find solutions. So, if you’re trying to work out more and you loathe the gym, don’t commit to going, find other forms of exercise that excite you, sign up for a class or find a way to stay accountable that works for you. Don’t commit to things that haven’t worked in the past either. If they haven’t worked in the past, they aren’t going to work now. By honoring this truth you allow your brain to come up with new more creative, and often effective, solutions.

4. Use Reminders

When you see something that reminds you of your goal and intention, you are more likely to subconsciously shift your behavior. The more you see it, the more likely you are to do it. Our bracelets all have unique meanings, but you can set your own intention for each one. When you write down what you want to feel, heal or attract, you create meaning and movement towards your goals AND every time you look at your wrist or see your bracelet, you remember to take action towards your goal.

A popular gemstone bracelet that people use for improving willpower and achieving goals is our Amethyst and Onyx combination. Amethyst is known to help you feel in control and provides strength over giving in to old patterns and unhealthy behaviors. While Onyx helps you feel stronger and protected from giving into temptations. Or, if you want the crystal or gemstone that is more specific to your goals, find out which gemstone is best for you.

5. Communicate Your Resolutions

Find your accountability buddies, reach out to friends or family that support you. Try going online or finding local support groups or forums so that you create a tribe of other like-minded and supportive people.
